Acura’s NSX supercar is still two years from being production-ready, but the brand brought its concept car to Detroit again this year, only this time to show its interior.

Simplicity, good visibility and a driver-focused cockpit are at the hear t of the brand’s current design, although Acura said this is just one of a few directions it might take with the production model.

“Consistent with the spirit of the original NSX, our intention is to support the psychological and emotional aspects of driving a super car at the limit, because we are insistent about delivering on the synergy between man and machine,” said Jon Ikeda, chief designer, Acura Design Studio. “Importantly, this will be true of all Acura vehicles moving forward.”

The brand confirmed during its press conference that production is still to take place in Ohio, although the last time AutoGuide.com spoke with the automaker, the facility was still being built. It’s been a couple months since then, but it shouldn’t be a surprise that progress is creeping forward.

Then again, that’s hardly a bad thing. If there’s one common pitfall across the auto industry, it’s rushing products to market before their ready. Neither Honda nor Acura carry that reputation, but it’s never too late for an overzealous production program.

As shown today, the interior is loaded with red leather and Alcantara, which even forms a stripe running through the middle of the car’s bucket seats. Carbon fiber cases the center console, while an infotainment display sits almost alone in the middle of the dash.
